In the Garden

Girl kissing roses petals

I come to the garden alone,
While the dew is still on the roses;
And the voice I hear, falling on my ear,
The Son of God discloses.

And He walks with me, and He talks with me,
And He tells me I am His own
And the joy we share as we tarry there,
None other has ever known.

He speaks, and the sound of His voice
Is so sweet the birds hush their singing;
And the melody that He gave to me
Within my heart is ringing.

I'd stay in the garden with Him
Tho' the night around me be falling;
But He bids me go; thro' the voice of woe,
His voice to me is calling.

^ Song by Charles Austin Miles, 1913.

* Painting "The Soul of the Rose" (or "My Sweet Rose") by John William Waterhouse, 1908.

Do you know that the author was writing these lyrics in a cold gloomy room without any window?

Who would believe, but we can do the most beautiful things in the most difficult situations.

Finding the inner power in favourite work, it helps us to see every thing from another point of view.

What is your the biggest desire right now?

There is one condition: it must be a good and safe thing.

If you want to be happy, allow yourself to be happy. Smile and feel it.

If you want to be slim, allow yourself to be slim. Sit straight and feel life energy in your muscles.

Just concentrate your mind using your strength of the will.

God is always near to help us. But we also have to make some steps to reach our goals.

I believe that writing this song, Charles A. Miles was seeing the beautiful garden with his inner sight. And Jesus was close to him.

We can find encouragement in our heart though times are tough.

Sometimes it is the only place where we can "come to the garden, while the dew is still on the roses".
